The Great Book of Michel Ragon is an interactive and musical entertainment, offering to (re)recognize the figure of the eclectic artistic agitator that was Michel Ragon – an internationally renowned Loire personality.
With the help of the public, the pages of a large book turn like so many drawers towards the work of Michel Ragon, in turn novelist, art critic, historian of architecture and proletarian literature, friend of Soulages, Le Corbusier, Chaissac, Topor…
Born in Marseille, but fatherless at 8 years old, he moved to Fontenay-le-Comte, then Nantes, where he frequented the poets of the Rochefort School (Cadou, in particular...), then the painter James Guitet, and wrote during the Second World War leaflets against the Gestapo. Once peace returned, he went to Paris, became a bookseller and met the artistic and literary world.
Michel Ragon publishes nearly fifty works: novels, pamphlets, poems, reference works, and it is when he returns to his childhood in Vendée that he reaches the widest audience, in 1989 his novel Les mouchoirs rouge de Cholet won the Goncourt prize for historical narrative.
Why this sudden and undeserved forgetting of this extraordinary character, on the part of the world of Arts and Letters?

With the participation of actors, singers and musicians from the Science 89 theater company, under the direction of Michel Valmer.
