The Croisicais and the Sea

The Croisicais and the sea, memory and crossed perspectives: a collection of 70 portraits of Croisicais personalities linked to the world of the sea, illustrated by Laurent CORVAISIER. The main thread of this exhibition is the honoring and safeguarding of the memory of the know-how of a fishing port.

This work, started in 2021, responds to the call for tenders launched by the regional network of Small Cities of Character in Pays-de-la-Loire. The town of Le Croisic, in partnership with the intangible cultural heritage office, has transcribed these meetings in the form of a video testimony, now available for self-service at the Croisicaise media library, Traict d'Encre. They were able to support a staging in different contexts: an exhibition during a highlight “maritime week” on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the magazine “Le Chasse-Marée” in March 2022, then the exhibition “Memories of the sea: the maritime adventure of Croisic” at the old auction in the summer of 2023. Finally, for this year 2024, this memorial catalog will be exhibited at the Galerie Chapleau from August 31 to September 22, 2024 with the artistic touch of Laurent Corvaisier.
